Meet Asif A. Lala, DMD, MD
Dr. Asif A. Lala attended Vanderbilt University where he earned his undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering. He then continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned his dental degree (DMD) in 2006 as well as his medical degree (MD) in 2009.
Dr. Lala completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency training at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2012, where he held the position of Chief Resident. He also completed and received a two-year certificate in General Surgery from the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
Dr. Lala is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and his professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, American Medical Association, American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Mississippi Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Lala strives to offer his patients the highest quality of care while showing utmost professionalism and compassion. His training is broad based, but his main interests include dento-alveolar surgery, implant surgery, oral pathology, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial trauma, obstructive sleep apnea, and TMJ disorders. Dr. Lala is on staff at Rush Foundation Hospital, the Specialty Hospital of Meridian, Anderson Regional Medical Center, and the Meridian Surgery Center.
Dr. Lala is originally from Meridian, where he spent much of his youth, and is excited to return to his childhood home and honored to once again be an active member of the community. He and his wife, Farheen, who is a trained medical internist, have three beautiful children, Nyla, Fiza and Ashar. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, travelling, and trying new types of cuisine.
